A concert performed by candlelight, in Elizabethan costume
The event will take place in the Bridewell Hall. The location has ancient ties to London’s Renaissance ‘music scene’ as the Bandora was invented on or near this site in the workshop of master craftsman, John Rose.
‘In the fourth yere of Queen Elizabeth, John Rose, dwelling in Bridewell, devised and made an Instrument with wyer strings, commonly called the Bandora, and left a son, far excelling himself making Bandoras, Vyoll de Gamboes, and other instruments.’
J. Stow’s Annales, or a general Chronicle of England, 1592
